Channel: What's Fit to Sift
Bio:
They tell even the Media to shut up or we will cut you off. Sure, this did work in prior elections, but it will not work this time because while they can tell the Netroots to shut up, we will not stand by silently. Not. This. Time.
We, the Netroots, do not have to wait for the Media to cover the story. We will cover it.
We do not have to have the "facts" spoon feed to us. We will find the facts ourselves.
We do not have to wait for permission. We will grant it to ourselves.
So go ahead. Call me a sexist when I actually supported womens' rights. I know where I stand.
Go ahead. Call me racist when I am the Black man that has been struggling for this moment. I know what has really happened.
Go ahead. Call me "Liberal" when I am actually firmly in the masses. I know what a mess the "conservatives" have made.
Go ahead. Keep telling me that I am losing when I am in the lead. I know that we will win because it is our time.
You, who love war, who love money, who love power -- your time is up. You had your chance, but no more, not this time, because it is our time. It is time for all of the people -- all of the people of the United States of America.

Very much so. I feel bad about vanishing off the face of the sift, but it's just temporary.
I'm trying to break my addiction to the day-to-day political news cycle, and right now it's pretty easy to do, seeing how all they have to talk about is speculate on cabinet appointments, last-minute Bush crimes, and watch the conservative wing of the punditocracy claim that Obama is now going to smash "the left"'s dreams, and govern from the center.
I'm finding some amusement in that coming from people who, a month ago, were calling Obama a socialist or a Marxist.
Mostly, I'm trying to retool myself for a political world where I'm not spending so much time angry, horrified, or fearful.
That, and get my Druid to level 80 in World of Warcraft.

Taking a much deserved break?

A little bit. Every time I've heard him talk, he sounds pretty rational, for a Republican.
Someone who's young and non-white at the head of the GOP would certainly help out their image. Less so if the message is the same one as always, just in new packaging.
What little I've seen/heard of Jindal, he's just fresh paint on the same old GOP lines. He's a bit more respectful of the opposition, but he's still into this nuke Iran, drill for oil everywhere we can, cut taxes for the rich only, and god forbid we spend any government money on something the American people need thing the Republicans are into.
Huckabee actually seems willing to raise taxes (when not running for President), seems to genuinely think poverty and sickness are things government should try to address, and most shocking of all, he seems to be a good person, with a good soul.
He seems like a nice guy who just surrounds himself with bad people (the rest of the Republican party).
In reply to this comment by NetRunner:
Huckabee always gets me twisted in knots. He'll say things that I really, really like...then he goes and says something stupid.
I think if Republicans are smart, they'll run him against Obama.
Here's to hoping they run Palin against Obama instead.

i support gay marriage.
the right to marry a homosexual follows directly from "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness". i believe in "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" to the fullest extent a human being can.
if you ever want to know my stance on any issue, just ask yourself: does this violate a person's right to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness? if it violates this axiom, i am against it. if it does not, i support it.

I do know about it, but you were talking about sending troops onto new battlegrounds in N. Korea and Sudan.
I think before we start more wars, we need to do more diplomacy and foreign aid.
The answer to both North Korea and Darfur/Sudan is China. We have a relationship with them now, let's twist their arm a little.
If we invaded Sudan, what's the mission? If we invated N. Korea, what's the mission?
Toppling the existing regime and replacing it with one of our own design?
No thanks. Been there, done that.

Just saw this comment from back in the day.
Do you not know about all the help we have provided around the world that has nothing to do with violence?
In reply to this comment by NetRunner:
^ Can't the US do something around the world that doesn't involve the military?

I really can't see any difference. Be sure to point of the differences if you find any.

You're gonna have to watch more than the first 5 seconds, and actually look at what's onscreen.
They're two separate Youtube videos, from the same poster, with different titles. Yours is the original, and then they did an updated "reloaded" version.

I watched it, seemed like the exact same clip. I'll take your word for it though, sorry
[edit]: actually, wtf are you talking about? They're EXACTLY the same.
In reply to this comment by NetRunner:
Did you actually watch the two side by side?
It was not a dupe.
How the hell do we undo your mistaken merge?
In reply to this comment by rasch187:
it's a dupe, netrunner.
