The
Jazz & Blues channel suddenly and dramatically was left without an administrator only a couple of days after I joined VideoSift. Naturally I took this as an omen, and proceeded to sift vigorously towards the day I could take on my alotted burden. That day finally arrived last week and I am proud to present a slightly refreshed channel.
First of all I have changed the horrid neon green color to a mellow indigo. According to Duke Ellington's Mood Indigo, this colour is "bluer than blue", so it should encompass both jazz and blues.
I have also added a list of jazz internet resources on the right, such as good music blogs and music archives. It's kind of meager so far, so I would appreciate your tips on what should be put there.
With regards to content, I have composed a short channel description that should cover what fits in the channel. I will in general not accept videos that only features small snippets of jazz/blues in samples, such as hiphop videos, but I might be persuaded by sufficient whining. The channel should be a resource for people to discover music they might want to check out, and I don't want it bogged down by hiphop and trance. If you think you don't like jazz, this channel could possibly change your mind a little bit. I'll let Pat Metheny explain:
The nice people he's talking about are right here on VideoSift! The amount of jazz sifters has grown dramatically recently, and they are all happy to help you along.
You may have noticed that I talk more about jazz than blues, but I promise to be evenhanded between the two. Even though jazz is my main obsession, I can appreciate a bit of soulful blues once in a while!
